2016 Goal Update: January

At the beginning of the year, I posted some goals for 2016. I committed to writing an update each month on the progress of my goals. It’s a good exercise in making sure I don’t lose sight of the big picture in my day to day life. So here goes January: -Run at least one race every month: CHECK! This month I did the Key West Half Marathon. Click here for the race recap. Coming up in February is the Austin Half Marathon. -Save money, pay off debts, own less: Lots of times this month, I’ve asked myself “Do I truly want this? Is it adding value to my life? Is this going to make me happy next week or just right now?” I avoided lots of extra purchases because I thought extra hard about where my mon

Key West Half Marathon - January 2016

Last weekend, we ventured to South Florida for the 18th annual Key West Half Marathon. I also completed the Key West Half last year. It’s really the perfect time to escape the arctic tundra of the northeast for a few days in the middle of January. I recently read that the third Monday of January is the most depressing day of the year, could there be a more perfect time to be in ‘Paradise’?! We were booked to fly to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday morning. I walked the terminal at the airport like a crazy person, determined to get my 10,000 steps in even though we were spending a majority of the day on a place or in the car. Our plane was delayed because Fort Lauderdale was not letting any incomi

Cauliflower Pizza

I have wanted to try cauliflower pizza for a while and just haven't had the time to work at it. Thursday, I was off for New Year's Eve and I decided that would be a perfect occasion to start testing. 2016 - Big Goals

Last year on New Year’s Day, after spending months writing, designing, tweaking, and revising, I hit the 'publish' button on this website. I knew nothing about websites or creating them but bit by bit, I created 'InTheLongRun'. Year one of blogging was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to many more. Now that 2016 is here, I have some goals. I always set goals, I love to have something to work toward. Even for a few days off work, I make a list of all of the things I'd ideally like to accomplish. I usually know that it’s not all going to happen but it keeps me from totally wasting all of my time and I like to physically check things off a list and be able to look at what I've accomplished.
