This past Sunday, I ran my fourth half marathon. But more importantly, I learned few things. In the 5k, 10 miler, half marathons, and marathon that I’ve completed in the past, the last minute of the race goes like this: I come around the bend and the finish line arch comes into view, all of the sudden, every single mile I’ve already completed disappears and I feel invincible. I run like an absolute Olympian, crossing the finish line in an all-out sprint, staring the race clock down, feeling like an Olympian. It’s true! Diet is 70% of the battle. The hour you spend at the gym is tough by in reality its nothing compared to avoiding the wrong diet the other 23 hours of the day. I inadvertently did my own experiment with this theory over the holidays. I largely maintained my workout schedule. I went to the gym after work, I did my long runs on Saturday mornings, and I did my typical strength training routine. Eating was a different story. I wanted to share something a little less deep and personal today, but oh so tasty! These muffins are a hit in my house by the calorie counter and the non calorie counter. I've modified this recipe a few times to shave off a few more calories and each motification has actually produced a muffin that tastes better than the last. Pain Is Temporary

…Pride is forever. I must admit, I wrote and re-wrote this post several times. How do you just dive into such a journey? It’s like dipping your toe in the swimming pool, you can spend all day inching your way in but who has that much time? Sometimes you just have to dive in. Well here I am, diving in. This saying has been my mantra for the last year and a half. While it doesn’t necessarily need to be your mantra, I can’t stress enough how helpful it has been to have a mantra. For me the ‘Pain’ portion encompasses quite a bit.
