Yesterday was like going back to work the day after Christmas. Lots of anticipation and excitement and before you know it, it’s all over. This weekend was my second experience with the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach, VA. In order to really appreciate this year’s run, I have the turn back just a few pages in history to last year. We had crazy amounts of snow here in southeastern PA and training was just plain difficult. I joined a Y where they had an indoor track, but it was only 1/16th of a mile so I spent hours running in that tiny circle. On top of that, I battled with some illness that really knocked me out. Spaghetti Squash

Earlier this week, I mentioned on my blog Facebook page that I was cooking spaghetti squash. If you’ve never worked with spaghetti squash before, do not be intimidated, try it! I start by cutting the squash in half and scraping out the seeds and 'guts'. I spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray and put the cut side down. Roast in a 350 degree oven for about 45-60 minutes. The easiest way to determine it is done is by poking the outside of the skin with your finger, if it feels soft but leathery to the touch, it’s done. You really can’t mess it up. Spring Ahead

This weekend, the clocks change. We get to launch ahead one hour, which will make it seem like Monday morning comes out of nowhere. The workday will fly by and before you know it, you will find yourself at home with an extra hour of daylight to boot. It’s a natural new beginning, a perfect time to refocus. Refocus on your workout goals, eating plan, and set the tone for the summer ahead. For me, this weekend is the time to make a running game plan to be carried out between now and October.
